The Ford company has launched the Escape
in 2008 but has since made many improvements on it to present the recent
one in 2010. This article analyzes some of the features that attracts
as well as repels the model to its customers.
There are many models but the hybrid
one is becoming favorite for those who choose this Ford Escape brand.
The car is powered by a V-6 engine and is capable of pulling the car
more efficiently. It offers 34 mpg in the city while 31 mpg on the highway
in its FWD model. The AWD model gives 30 mpg in the city and 27 mpg
on the highways. The fuel economy is more suiting than any of the sports
utility cars. The car is also available in SUV and look-wise is similar
to many other models launched this year. But the durability of this
car on the road discriminates its power from any other model. The SUV
cost around $21,000 while the hybrid can be purchased for a higher price
of about $29,000.
Both these models are almost the copy
of the previous Ford Explorer and present a nice 4 door exterior. The
hybrid models are available in body-color grilles while the others are
offered with chromes. The 16-inch wheel is standard but there is the
option of fitting 17-inch as well.
The interior is well maintained for
a Ford car but the hybrid does not provide much leg space for the rear
seat. However, the space is compensated by a 67.2 cubic feet area given
for the luggage when the rear seats are folded. However, all the models
do not come in leather draped seats.
The engine has also been upgraded.
The 2.5 liter I-4 can deliver 171 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. The car
is available with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic.
Continuously variable transmission is available in some models. The
people who want more power out of their cars may choose 240 hp V-6 which
can pull 3500 pounds.
The ford models have been provided with the latest technological equipments like the integrated spotter mirrors, Active Park Assist self-parallel-parking system, optional rear-view camera system, and MyKey. The cars also have Sync activated with Traffic, and the driver can have directions and information through the system’s GPS functionality and Bluetooth connectivity. Not only have these but the safety featured like airbags including side curtain airbags for both rows of seats are available. Stability and traction control help the driver to keep driving and the riders safe.
